Always stand out

As my friends know, I am not a shy person, by any stretch of the imagination.  I like to be right out in front of things, screaming my little heart out.  Maybe I’m an attention you-know-what, or maybe I just love life and want to celebrate that fact! All that is to say that maybe that is why I really like this card.  Laura Jane, of @mammacooksalot, designed the card below using stamps from The Ton.  I posted a card back in late December featuring The Ton Couture Clear Stamps.  I think they have really beautiful images, with clean lines that make a great presentation.  For the card below, Laura Jane stamped the Tulip Bouquet image in a light color ink, and then stamped and cut out the bows, which she then colored in bright shades and adhered to the card.  I think the look is amazing, and it doesn’t seem to take any time at all to create this card.  You can check out this card at either on The Ton’s blog or Laura Jane’s Instagram.  Remember, always stand out!

Re-purposing old books

As I have mentioned before, I love books.  Old, new…..reading them, decorating with them….it doesn’t matter.  I love having books around.  Below is another way to decorate with and re-purpose old books.  Turn them into a wall organizer or storage for mail or other papers that you want to keep handy.  Click here for the tutorial by Morena Hockley for this simple and easy project.  Don’t throw out those old Encyclopedia Britannica just because you Google everything! Re-purpose them!

Love comes in all colors

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away, and there is plenty of time to create some gorgeous handmade cards! Today, I wanted to just take the time to point out that just as love comes in all different colors, Valentine cards can also come in different colors, not just the standard red.  The cards below are from older pins that I had saved on my Pinterest board, Created Cards…..Hearts, so the links or websites may be dated, which is why I am just giving credit to the creator at the end of this post, and not going into more detail.  I simply wanted to spark your creativity when creating your Valentine cards, and maybe give your red inks, markers and cardstock a rest!

Winnie the Pooh…and hunny, too!

I heart Disney……and have always loved Winnie the Pooh…call me a kid at heart.  Check out these adorable flower pots shown by Mel Ayer on the Disney Family website.  I have been a Disney fan for years, so I always love seeing crafts and projects that are Disney themed.  These are no exception, I adore the accompanying Hunny flower pot!  You can visit the Disney Family web page here, for instructions on how to complete this project.  This is a great project to bring a little spring to these winter days!

Hugs and besos!

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away…so it’s time to display and share some heart and love cards.  I found this card on Instagram, created for Sizzix by Kathy Cano-Murillo, of Crafty ChicaSizzix, known for dies and die cutting machines, has spread its wings to offer other products, such as stamps, paper, jewelry findings, and much more.  Kathy used the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 3PK w/Stamps – Besos Hearts and Sizzix Paper – 6″ x 12″ Cardstock Pad, My Happy Life, to create this stunning card.  I love the background paper for this card, it appears as though it was actually stamped!  You can go to the Sizzix website, to get a look at all the products they offer to bring your creativity to life.  Be sure and check out Kathy’s website, Crafty Chica™, and see all the things she offers with regards to a Latina lifestyle!  Besos!

The Paper Nest Dolls is a company that produces hand drawn images that are inspired by their children.  These fun child images range from angels to sailors to mermaids to police officers, and many others in various activities and themes.  One that I found on Instagram was created by Tina Goodwin for The Paper Nest Dolls, using their Boy Wizard and Girl Wizard images.  You can visit The Paper Nest Dolls blog to see more details about these adorable bookmarks.  Make sure that you check out The Paper Nest, to see just what a wide variety of images that they carry of these adorable kids.  Also, take a peek at Tina’s blog, Toadally Love to Craft, for more inspiration.  Make some magic happen in your craft space with these awesome stamps!

Enchanted Cottage – Lewisville, NC

Happy Tuesday….I missed a few days of posting due to traveling….I make a resolution to improve on that!  However, whenever I travel, I always try to visit local stamp or scrapbook stores near my destination.  This past weekend, I was in Rural Hall, North Carolina.  There were a couple of scrapbook stores in Greensboro, but since I am a predominant stamper, I chose to go to Enchanted Cottage in Lewisville.  This store is very large, in my opinion, as specialty stores are sometimes a little on the smaller side.  The best thing about this store, is that is was for all kind of papercrafting….scrapbooking and rubber stamping.  You will notice in one of the pictures below, that they have dies hanging in scrapbook pages.  I like this, because it allows you to see exactly what the die looks like when cut out on just plain white cardstock.  Each die is numbered, so you fin the one you want and then just look for the number in a bin that contains the packaged dies.  This is a great store, and a must visit if you are in the area!
